So I finished my last semester of college back in mid-July, which means free-time abounding to work on the whole backlog of things that I've let built up during the past half-year or so, although there will be a few changes in the routine from years previous. Here's a run down on the things to expect from me this fall:
But until I leave in September, here's what I'll be doing.
First off, getting caught up on fanfics. And I don't mean writing fanfics, I mean reading them. When that spring semester ended mid-July, I had a whopping one hundred (plus) new chapter alerts in my account on FIMFiction.Net alone, so I'm WAY behind, and putting it off longer is only going to just get me even FURTHER behind. Thus, I've been working at getting caught up again. I've already gotten that count back down to the mid-sixties range, but I'd like to get it all the way back down to ten or less if possible by the end of August (which means I need to get my butt in gear and read more of them per day).
I'm also working at updating my notes for the various writing projects I'm engaged in, which has been...time consuming. See, last April I purchased a little notebook-portfolio thingy to carry around wherever I go, so I can have something to jot down ideas for my stories as I think of them. It's worked out great, but in the four months I've had it, I've already filled the notebook, so now I've got to transfer all of those ideas to my more permanent story notes on my laptop, and there's like...200 pages worth of notes here, some very complicated and detailed, so...yeah, it's a lengthy process.
Right now most of my time is dedicated to one of these three or four things that I've listed, but after that I DO hope to start branching out here soon.
First is obviously Super Pup, which I have been actively working on it behind the scenes, namely by writing out the comics and the storyarcs and all of that jazz. I've gathered a fairly lengthy collection of ideas on that, enough to probably last me several years, so I'd say things are going well there. Also, I hope to soon to get back into the character sketches, doing at least two more before I move on to doing some quick test comics to figure out how I want Super Pup formatted as well as a kind of cover, after which I WILL be starting in on that comic at long last. So if you're interested, be sure to keep tabs on my progress, because that'll all be going down very soon.
After that, I'm going to try to focus on other things for awhile so to try and draw more fanart of other characters, with the idea being that I'd have enough new characters in my gallery for a deviantART project. I need to stop dilly-dallying and get going on that, and if it means I have to set aside working on other art to do it, then so be it.
That said, mixed in with all of that, I intend to do a few other things. One is to finally finish a new deviantID that I sketched out ages ago but haven't even gotten around to scanning in yet. I also plan to mess around with the logo again, and do a rather notably different take on it, so to pursue a little, related side project that I'll explain further at a later date. But most importantly, I hope to branch out a little and try things I haven't really tried before. Back in October, I was lucky enough to get a drawing tablet, but I haven't had much chance to put it to use yet due to school demands and being right in the middle of other projects. So this fall I hope to take the time to engage in some art projects using that tablet (and hopefully become more dependent upon it) and try my hand at some serious digital painting. I also want to try my hand at watercolor painting again, but as physical watercolor painting can be expensive (and I'm nearly out of paint), I'm going to investigate doing it digitally. Apparently it can be done (we have the technology), so I'll be looking into that.
I will also be trying to put a focus on my writing, more so than in the past, because I've come to recognize that it's quite likely my writing that's going to help me make a living in the long run. Since my writing doesn't apply too much here, I won't bother getting too detailed on it, but something I am considering on doing is producing an e-book to sell that'll be largely story-based, but will also feature some artwork from yours truly, and if I do, will be advertising it largely on dA, so it would be nice to have your support on that project.
After that, it'll be the same-old stuff that I usually work on during this time of year. I'm also
Oh, and just by way of reminder, I DID finally finish my website, and it is live and free for viewing by all. Granted, there isn't much to do there yet other than read the blog, view comics, and a portfolio, but I'm looking at things I can be putting on it, and am open to suggestions. So yeah, there's that.
And that's pretty much everything I've got planned for this fall, at least in brief, so I say you're all up to speed now.
